Toddler training like a pro
Think about it; you wouldn't try to repair your car or even paint your house without the proper tools. Nor should you attempt toddler training without being prepared. This is where it all began at ItsPottyTime.com. When Hugh Johnston, grandfather of five, realized the lack of appropriate potty training help for children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years, he searched for a way to entertain as well as educate them. His work with Duke University Medical Center in the early 1990's developed quickly into the Duke Family Series you can find on our site today. Providing quality educational tools for toddler training was the standard and will continue to develop into a series of 10-12 different educational titles. Check back often as we add new potty training tips to our growing Duke Family Series line.
Kids potty: when to use
There can be some confusion as to when you should introduce your child to the toilet and when to use a kids potty chair. In the early stages of potty training, place a small child's potty chair in the bathroom next to the toilet. They can then associate that chair with the toilet easily and know that the bathroom is used for this purpose.
Once a child is comfortable using this potty chair, move to using a kids potty seat on the adult toilet. This is usually a foam or plastic insert placed on the adult seat to provide a smaller and more secure fit for your child. However, leave the potty chair in the bathroom in case they feel uncomfortable during the transition. You can remove it when the child is completely comfortable using the toilet on his own.
